Busy year is putting it mildly! I must thank all those who take the time to come to my solo gigs and keep the places happy! It's been a fruitful year in that sense.

Now, on to the Fest! Celebrating my personal fave, Abbey Road will be performed by me and the boys in Liverpool in celebration of it's 50th anniversary! Following our shows each night are a celeb lineup that cannot be missed!
Also, I'm truly thrilled to have drummer Allan White of the group "YES", amongst others, who will be joining us (along with sax man Mark Rivera of Billy Joel, Ringo Starr) to perform some songs he recorded with this guy named John Lennon....there's more but I guess you'll have to show to see for yourselves!

It's been a fruitful year to say the least. The latest news that I'm now fulltime solo-pianomanning every THURSDAY at the historically cool Rothmann's Steakhouse/Bar. A mostly classic rock crowd is not shy to sing along...then again, neither are the bartenders! Such a fun gig!

Also a pleasure to be performing at The Garden Grill in Smithtown on select dates with "Fast Lane's" own lead singer, Joe Sulluci for what has become BEATLE-NIGHT! Between the "two of us"...(had to do that!), there isn't a Beatle song we cannot do! So much fun I cannot say!

LIVERPOOL has put a 2018 wrap on featuring music from THE WHITE ALBUM amongst many more Beatle and solo Beatle classics. The Chicago Fest crowd were just on fire! Thank you drummer Joe Belia for the fantastic drumming and for being all smiles throughout the 3 shows! It was a joy!

And to the Fest For Beatles Fans audience...Thank you all for your enthusiasm, love, and support all these years . I feel this band is second to none and I am so proud of what we pull off as only a 4 piece act. The 2019 Fests will be a new year of challenges, surprises already in the making...just for you all!

Its been a very busy and fruitful season with my comrades in the 10 piece party band Code Bleu! This band plays private affairs and is the best in the business!

So much more going on, I will do my best to keep you informed as I line things up...

I still feel that the guys in LIverpool outdid themselves once again and I'm honored to share the stage with them.
The Fest -Command, the Lapidos family really know how to put on so much more than just a musical event. Word back from fans and all have been nothing but raves about the great time had by all.
I want to thank the guest performers who followed with us after we finished our portion.
The legendary guitarist Albert Lee was just amazing! A gentle soul and the best of the best at what he does.
Joey Molland of Badfinger performed some of the greats and was as usual "the quintessential rocker" and a regular guy...lots of laughs to look back on.
The multi-coloured, most diverse, the Hudson brother, Ringo producer, singer/songrwriter for everybody under the sun, Mark Hudson took to the stage joined by all the above and with the Mersey's own Billy J Kramer for a rock jam that left the band, the crowd on their feet and exhausted! Wouldn't have it any other way!!!
Lastly, I can say that the energy that came from the Chitown audience was what really drove us. The guys and myself cannot be more thankful to you all for reminding us what rock and roll is all about! It was haunting in a sense. I spent a good part of my life studying his work and always considered it the absolute litmus for quality production. His use of the orchestra in breaking new ground bringing a masterful history of musical evolution into the element of the Beatle's creations seemed to chime with my musical upbringing.

At a very early age, I started playing piano...so young I'm not sure if I could speak yet. I didn't know it was something unique as my two older brother's played as well. I remember thinking that everybody played piano. Music was like food. The records my family had covered a gamut of styles...Beethoven, Gershwin, Goodman, Hank Williams etc. Combine this with my much older brother's collections, I thought they were all equally "cool".

When I was about five years old, I could first recall the Beatle rage on NY's WMCA and WABC (WA Beatle C) duking it out to get the official recognition. From that point forward, I was just taking it in as I grew, singing and playing Beatle songs, taking for granted that their music incorporated all the musical influences I was exposed to from the beginning.

By 1966, the use of orchestral instruments only added to my picture...it only made sense to do so in my little world...that's what I knew. These songs became a virtual soundtrack to my life as I watched the older kids change and grow in thought and style, all influenced by this same group. I attended peace demonstrations with my family (my dad an ex-paratrooper in France during WW-II), I spent the summer of '68 mistakenly placed on a hippy commune in Michigan while my parents thought I was in a summer resort with her friend's children. Sgt Pepper was my soundtrack at that time and I remember laying back at night and listening at night to A Day In A Life, thinking how it all seemed to fit my experience...or at least what I could understand at the time.

I remember playing Abbey Road on my brother's record player and thinking about how mystically spacious the mix in "Because" was...Because the sky is blue, it makes me cry... It was like the song was written looking out of my own young eyes on the world.

After high school, I was asked to join a "Beatle's Band" by my friends, Jon and Neil. It honestly hadn't dawned on me to do this, as the music was so engrained in me, I hesitated...it was personal.

Well...from there, as some of you know, it went much farther than I could have ever dreamed. I found myself with the tools in synthesis to dissect and recreate much of the work that was never considered for performance by the Beatles. Now, I dug deep, pulling apart this untapped plethora of my childhood's soundtrack...programming and playing was a challenge and an education all in one. I was more than humbled dozens of times. There were times I would pull off my headset and say, oh my god...
Then to perform at Beatlefest to a crowd of people who knew the music much the way I did was like a dream.
Back to today, as I write, Sir George Martin is gone. That sense of musical understanding I have suffers most...a mentor for lack of a better word.
I will carry on of course. My children have been presented with Mr Martin's magic since birth and now have a acute understanding of quality production and the incorporation of orchestral instruments and vocal harmonies to push that emotion in their music to a whole other level.
Although I never met the man and in all humility, I feel I've lost a father in a sense. I've been so fortunate to have grown up when I did...
rest in peace sir.
Drew
DREW HILLtag:drewhillmusic.com,2005:Post/40712262016-03-03T14:07:02-05:002016-03-03T14:07:02-05:00Drew Performs with "LIVERPOOL" at The Fest For Beatles Fans NY Metro 2016It's that time again! Goode!

Billy Joel saxman/Ringo Musical Director Mark Rivera was cool enough to actually join our set (a rare occurence for Liverpool) to adorn us with sax and percussion on various tunes, as well as having us back him from a lead track off of his new album Money, Money!...Killer track, killer album...PS. one of the coolest guys I've ever set foot on stage with.

Then came the big Jam with all the guests at the end led by the PsychOdelic wonder, Mark Hudson...Little Richard on steroids, which led the crowd out of their seats!..no kidding.

Mark Rubinstein with the Pig Light Show made us look magical...A craftsman in visual effects as you see from the pics.

Lastly, The staff at the Fest are family to me...nuf said.

Thank you all again for being such receptive fans, friends etc and we look forward to seeing you in Chicago in August!!...especially certain L.A. people we missed!!!
peace and love,
DrewDREW HILLtag:drewhillmusic.com,2005:Post/34882202015-01-27T00:15:42-05:002015-03-09T16:09:17-04:00DREW with Liverpool MARCH 20-22 2015 Fest For Beatles Fans - Rye Hilton Rye, NYCome see Drew perform with Liverpool and special guests at The NY Metro FEST FOR BEATLES FANS 2015 at the new location in Westchester, NY. The show was star-studded and gave Liverpool a really enjoyable experience yet again. It was a really amazing experience to work with members of Wings (Denny Laine, Denny Seiwell, and Lawrence Juber) performing some of Denny Laine's and Paul's tracks. Joey from Badfinger is just like a bandmate when you work with him...no kidding. That band did some of my favorite songs of all time. By the way, his new album is killer. Mark Rivera (sax for Joel, Ringo...and everybody else I've ever admired :)) was typically brilliant and one of the warmest people I know. Billy J Kramer killed the crowd jumping off stage to go across the room. Lastly, but not leastly, rock and roll is rounded out by Mark Hudson who is the musical lovechild of Little Richard mixed with all three Marx Brothers. This guy rocks like nobody and led an allstar jam at the end that went to the wee hours...
And to my bandmates in Liverpool, one of the best shows we've played. It's an honor to work with such a combination of talent!!! Many thanks for Benny jumping in for Glen and doing a spot on job! The crowd loved you...as did we.
Thank you all again for your kind words, support, and love!!!

See you all in NY 2015!
Peace and Love,
Drew
DREW HILLtag:drewhillmusic.com,2005:Post/25519392014-02-10T09:08:25-05:002022-07-29T21:24:55-04:0050th Anniversary of The Beatles...Wow!!!
Just got back from NYC Grand Hyatt from "The Fest For Beatles Fans". This was the gig to remember for my mates and I in "Liverpool".
We started the celebration on Friday Feb 7th in being invited to JFK Int'l Airport to play the commemorative ceremony celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Beatle’s arrival to America. It was attended by every major news station, the Lord Mayor of Liverpool UK, one the original “stewardesses” on the flight to America, lots of talking heads from the Senate, NY/NJ Port Authority (my dad’s old employer), DJ Terri Hemert, the godmother of Chicagolands Rock Radio, and most importantly hundreds of screaming fans holding signs as many of them did all those years ago. The energy was electric to say the least.

Then to the Grand Hyatt Hotel NYC, and with guest drummer Steve Holley (former McCartney Wings, Elton John, Ian Hunter etc) we all piled into cars and entered “Beatleland” for the coolest 50th anniversary celebration on the planet!
The crowd were on fire! It’s hard to describe the kind of vibe of thousands and thousands of fans with the same energy. I cannot thank them enough for their kind responses to our shows. We are so privileged for the opportunity to play these shows around the country, but this one in particular. Literally from every corner of the Earth were there to be a part of this event.

I want to personally thank guest performers Donovan, Denny Laine (Moody Blues, Wings), Billy J Kramer, Mark Hudson, Neil Innes (Ruttles, Bonzo Dog Band, Monty Python etc etc), Ian MacDonald (King Crimson, Foreigner), Mark Rivera (sax with Billy Joel and, oh yeah, musical director for RINGO STARR),..ok, who’d I miss? The opportunity to back up these artists was better than cool! …There were also amazing performances by The Smithereens, Peter Asher, original members from Elephants Memory (J Lennon’s backup), killer performer from The Voice (name slips me..ouch), drummer Liberty Devito (Billy J Kramer’s band)…and more…man oh man what a weekend! DJ “Cousin Bruce Morrow”, Q 104 Ken Dashow, the CBS radio team (hey Tom Kaminski overhead) WXRT Terri Hemmert, ABC, NBC, BBC…like a Rollllin Stone!!! My apologies for anyone I missed…still groggy and doing this by memory!

Oh yeah, can’t forget the newest artist of them all, Casey Hill for her debut performance with the band Mark Hudson and Denny Laine! My little 10 year old was pulled onto the stage by Hudson for a impromptu duo vocal shootout singing Kansas City! Totally unplanned and her first time on stage brought the house down with a standing ovation! OMG, was papa one proud guy and the house were all smiles!

Still coming down from all the excitement, I’d like to thank Steve Holley for being the pro that he is and learning our entire show meticulously with nothing but a shining attitude and performance! He’s a rare breed and a great friend! Ardi our magical soundman like no other and the crew behind him were flawless, Dr Robert for keeping the sanity stageside, Marc Rubenstein for the PIG Light show for his masterful artistry behind us all weekend. The Fest staff, well, we love you guys…

Thank you Glen Burtnik and John Merjave for being the best musical combination I’ve ever worked with! I’ve come to learn there seems nothing we can’t crack! Chris, we missed your face!!!

Lastly, my heartfelt thanks to my second family, Mark, Carol, Michelle, and Jessica Lapidos who created and run The Fest For Beatles Fans for so many years for their integrity toward the Beatles, Apple Inc in being the ONLY sanctioned Beatles event in the world! We are honored to be a part of this happening like no other. The fans, my band, my family and I are blessed for being a part of your passion.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the opportunity to perform for you all! To my fans and friends alike, I never forget how blessed I am for your kindness and support all these years…

Peace and love,
Drew

DREW HILLtag:drewhillmusic.com,2005:Post/25185212014-02-04T09:33:59-05:002017-01-13T08:45:14-05:00Drew With LIverpool Weds Feb 5 at Prohibition Bar and Grill with Drummer Steve HolleyIn a rare NYC club performance, Liverpool will be performing a "pre-Fest For Beatles Fans" warmup show Weds Feb 5th at Prohibition Bar and Grill. Just a quick note to say that I can't recall having met a nicer band than the Beachboys! My band Liverpool had the privilege of opening for this Great American icon to a sold-out crowd at a baseball stadium in Rockland New York! I would like to thank all the people who came down to cheer us on! We just had a total blast! We want to thank Bruce Johnston, Mike Love and their band for sharing their stories, musical advice :-), and food ( thanks Bruce) with me and the guys. After our set, I danced like a fool with my daughters for three hours while the Beach boys rocked the place silly!!! Some great pics to follow!!!
Again, thanks so much to all our friends who came down to show their support from near and far and I'm so sorry for all those who attempted to get tickets and were unable. In reflection, I cannot recall a more energetic show than this last one in Chicago! There just seemed to be a universal buzz amongst the crowd. All three shows were a genuine rock 'n roll experience! The band were on their mark! I couldn't have been more proud to work with these guys!! To all those Fans and friends, old and new, two came to cheer us on, thank you so much for the kind words and the opportunity to share such a great spirit. Lastly, we'd like to think Joey Molland of the group Badfinger for rocking this clambake beyond imagination with us. Please check out his latest album, "Back to Memphis" online. I personally was blown away with the tracks. It was a privilege to debut one of them with him. Also many thanks to Billy J. Kramer, Mark Hudson, Chad and Jeremy, Chas Newbey, And last but not least Greg Kihn for the opportunity to perform with them! Yeah Greg, they don't write 'em like that anymore! :-) Of course we cannot forget the Lapidos family for providing us with this opportunity. We love you all.
